Birthday Box!

Lady Cavanagh was thrilled when her best friend presented her with a customised 'Birthday Bellabox' for her birthday a couple of weeks ago.  Full of amazing - not to mention full sized- products it was an unbelievably thoughtful and exciting gift.

Here's what it came with:

A'Kin Lavender, Germanium and Jojoba Hand, Nail and Cuticle Cream - Lady Cavanagh has wanted this for ages! Great scent, little goes a long way and feels luxurious to apply.

Ecopure Smoothing Body Butter with natural olive oil - Smells great, absorbs easily into the skin, definitely leaves my skin feeling well hydrated.

Trilogy Everything Balm - Use this on dry elbows, crack heels, chapped lips, scaly knees!  This reminds me of Bio-oil in that it does a lot of things really well.

Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara - Easy to apply, separates and plumps up your lashes beautifully. Very comparable to high end mascaras such as Benefit's 'Bad Gal lash'.

Aptiva Express Beauty with Ginko biloba 'dark circles and eye puffiness mask' and Aptiva Express Beauty with cucumber 'intensive hydration mask' - Masks are great any time of the year, especially during a hot Australian summer!  Masks are also a good 'catch up' for your skincare routine if you've been neglecting it a bit lately.

Jelly Belly jellybeans - YUM!!

Like all beauty boxes its always fun to try out mew products that you haven't heard of or tried before.  This is such a good idea for a gift that Lady Cavanagh has already decided to make one for other people's birthdays and pass the idea off as her own.... ;-)

Thank you so much to my best friend Duchess Ineké for the beautiful birthday present!

Sunday Manicure

Lady Cavanagh decided to start the year with one of the polishes she received for her birthday - 'Gone Gonzo!'. The polish is from the new OPI Muppets collection (of which there are 12 colours). As you can see from the picture its made up of macro hexagonal silver glitter with a metallic blue glitter base.  These photos are after three coats plus a top coat.

OPI glitters are a great product to use; they go on easily and the formula means that the glitter distributes evenly so you're not left with half a nail piled up with glitter while the other half is bare.  When worn alone this polish as a 'special occasion' feel - probably from the way the light catches the silver glitter and makes it shine all the time. It can be worn alone as seen here or put on top of a base colour - black, white or blue would look great with this one.

Birthday Polish!

It was Lady Cavanagh's birthday last week and the day got off to a flying start when her wonderful boyfriend presented her with three bottles of OPI polish! Extra points cos they were from the new Muppets collection!
Divine Swine, Meep-meep-meep, Gone Gonzo! (with flash)
Gone Gonzo! - Hexagonal silver macro glitter with metallic bright blue micro glitter.  The silver catches the light really nicely in this shade. It can be worn alone and goes opaque in about three coats.  It can also be worn on top of other colours; one coat would probably be enough for this/

Meep-meep-meep: When I looked at it by itself it immediately reminded me of 'The one that got away' from the Katy Perry collection. However, as you can see from this picture, when they're placed side-by-side they look quite different.'The one that got away' is more of a dark ruby tone whereas Meep-meep-meep is a brighter, fuchsia colour. Both of them have a speckled effect that's kinda glittery without being chunky.

Divine Swine: Same formula as Gone Gonzo! with silver macro glitter only with a pinky purple micro glitter base.  The purple is a gorgeous colour that can't help but remind you of the purple eyeshadow Miss Piggy is famous for.  Like Gone Gonzo! it can be worn alone or would look stunning over a black or white base.

There are 12 polishes in the OPI Muppets Collection - 6 glitters and 6 shimmers.  Like most OPI polishes they apply well and with a good top and base coat they'll last for days without chipping.  The collection is available in Australia from David Jones or hair and beauty supply stores like Hairhouse Warehouse. You can order them online from retailers like Salonstyle.com.au. If you're in the USA however they're available at a lot more places for a lot cheaper so rush out and get them all I say!
